The Gibraltar community has even more reason to feel proud and hopeful this week thanks to the ongoing work of the Gibraltar Cardiac Association, a passionate local charity dedicated to supporting people affected by heart disease and promoting heart health across the Rock.
Founded in the late 1990s and formally registered as a charity in 2016, the Association began as a grassroots effort by cardiac sufferers and their families who felt overlooked and in need of support. Today, it continues that legacy with heart raising awareness, supporting patients and their loved ones, and championing healthier lifestyles for everyone in Gibraltar.
What They Do
The Gibraltar Cardiac Association works tirelessly to:
- Raise public awareness about heart disease, including prevention and treatment.
- Fundraise for vital equipment, such as life-saving AED defibrillators placed in key locations around Gibraltar.
- Support local cardiac patients by fostering community, education and advocacy.
- Dream big for the future, with long-term goals like establishing a dedicated cardiac centre right here at home.
Through events, campaigns and fundraisers, this volunteer-driven group brings Gibraltar together around a cause that affects so many families because every heartbeat matters.
Community in Motion
From awareness walks to Heart Month initiatives and fundraising campaigns like #WearRedDay, the Association makes sure heart health stays front of mind for people of all ages and backgrounds. Their work not only benefits people living with heart conditions but also brings the whole community closer together in support and solidarity.
Follow their updates, events and inspirations on their social media channels and website, and be part of the effort to keep Gibraltar healthy, active and thriving.
